Dr. Usha Tandon
Senior Professor, and

Senior Professor Usha Tandon is Professor of Environmental Law, Gender Justice, Family Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. A widely acclaimed professional, she is a recognised scholar for her work on human development. With the teaching experience of more than three decades, she is known for her outstanding contributions in the fields of environmental protection and women empowerment. Her book on Population Law in India (2003) is the only book of its kind which covers various population issues through the perspective of law and has been referred to extensively in India and abroad. As a Member of coveted statutory bodies such as Legal Education Committee, Bar Council of India; General Body, National Judicial Academy; and Delhi State Legal Services Authority, she is incessantly contributing to the development of legal education and profession in India.

Her illustrious career in the field of Law includes being the eminent author/editor of several books like Energy Law (Oxford University Press) ; Biodiversity Law (Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group); Mediation (Bloomsbury); Climate Change (Eastern Book Company); Gender Justice (Regal Publications); and Human Trafficking Law (Central Law Publications). Her research papers have been published in international journals like Transnational Environmental Law, Cambridge University Press,(UK); Coventry Law Journal, (UK); Yonsei Law Journal (South Korea); IIUM Law Journal (Malaysia); TOAEP, (Brussels, Belgium); OIDA International Journal of Sustainable Development ( Ontario Canada); Palgrave Macmillan, (Singapore) and NOUN International Journal of Private and Property Law (Nigeria) to name a few and have been applauded and recognised by the Supreme Court of India.

She has the honour of presenting her research work at various international academic platforms in countries including USA, Canada, U.K. France, Germany, Netherlands, Australia, China, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan. She has also been contributing to international scholarship by serving as a Reviewer for Scopus indexed journals like “Environmental Law Review, (SAGE, UK)”; “Review of European, Comparative and International Environmental Law, (Wiley, USA) and “Journal of Environmental Policy and Planning” (Taylor & Francis, UK).

She has been the Fellow of the Max Planck Institute for International and Comparative Private Law, Hamburg, Germany,(2011); International Institute of Human Rights, Strasbourg, France, (2007) and has to her credit Ciedhu which specializes her in the university human rights teaching. She has the honour of being invited by the Centre for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, American University Washington College of Law, USA to pursue research on Human Rights and Women’s Reproductive Health (2004). She has also been invited by Korea Environment Cooperation to speak on “Green India Mission” in the 6th Policy Consultation Forum of the Seoul Initiative Network on Green Growth: Economic System Economy” in Busan, Republic of Korea,( 2011), organized by Economic and Social Commission of Asia and Pacific (ESCAP) in cooperation with Ministry of Environment of Republic of Korea. As an expert from India, she participated in the International Symposium of Constitutional Court of Korea, in South Korea (August, 2014, 2023) , Kathmandu School of Law, Nepal in the deliberations on the curriculum for “Human Rights of Women” (2003). She had been invited by the Royal Court of Bhutan as a Guest of Honour to participate in the inauguration of the new Supreme Court of Bhutan, by the Indian Prime Minister on 15th June, 2014.

As a national expert, she contributed for the World Bank’s Report, 2017 “Enabling the Business of Agriculture – Access to Water ” studying the laws and regulations for water resources management and irrigation, recognizing the importance of sustainable, equitable and efficient management of water resources for long- term agricultural development.

Her critically acclaimed projects include the country report for the International Research Project on Climate Change Commitments: An Ethical Analysis” conducted by the University of Auckland, NZ and Widener University, USA with support from IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law and its Specialist Ethical Group. As an expert, she participated in the “National Consultation on Strategic Five Year Plan Organised by National Commission for Women, Delhi (2010). She successfully completed the research projects sanctioned by the University Grants Commission, Delhi; National Commission for Women, Delhi; and the University of Delhi. One of her research studies on Women and Population has been published by the National Commission for Women (2010).

The recipient of “World Population Day Award, 2000”, “Phenomenal She, 2019 ”, “Exceptional Woman of Excellence”, 2023 and “Distinguished Woman Researcher in Law”, 2023, she is a member of several professional organisations such as Population Association of America, MD, USA; South Asian Law Schools Forum for Human Rights (founding member) Kathmandu; All India Law Teachers Congress, New Delhi (founding member); Indian Law Institute, New Delhi (life member) Institute for Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies, New Delhi (life member) and Indian Society for International Law, New Delhi.

Professor Usha Tandon served as the Dean and Head, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi (2021-2023); the Professor-in-Charge of Campus Law Centre (CLC), University of Delhi (2013-2019) and the Director of Vivekananda Law School, GGS Indraprastha University, Delhi (2004-2005). She is currently on deputation as the Founding Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj.

Dr. Deepak Sharma
Assistant Professor of Law

Dr. Deepak Sharma is working as Assistant Professor of Law. He completed his Ph.D. on the topic, ‘Public Participation in the Criminal Justice System for Prevention and Control of Crime: A Comparative Study’, from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He earned his LL.M. from Jamia Millia Islamia,New Delhi. He qualified UGC-NET in 2012.

Before joining Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Pryagraj, as an Assistant Professor of Law, he had the privilege of mentoring students enrolled in the Integrated Programmes in Law and Management at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM-Rohtak), (an Institute of National Importance) from April 2022 to April 2023, as well as teaching B.A.,LL.B. and LL.M. students at the Faculty of Law at Jamia Millia Islamia during the 2016–17 academic year. He had a short stint of teaching and mentoring LL.M. students in the capacity of Assistant Professor at the Amity Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Amity University, Noida, U.P., and at Chandra Prabhu Jain College of Higher Studies and School of Law (C.P.J.), affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi.

Dr. Sharma’s areas of specialization and interest include Criminal Law, Criminology and Penology, Criminal Justice Administration, Law of Contract and Family Law. He practiced as an Advocate in the High Court of Delhi & District Courts of Delhi. He also presented several research papers at international and national conferences and published research articles in law journals of repute.

Dr. Sonika
Assistant Professor of Law

Dr. Sonika is currently working as Assistant Professor of Law.  Her academic experience entails being faculty at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab; Galgotias University Greater Noida;and JEMTEC School of Law, Greater Noida (Affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi).

She completed her B.A.L.L.B. (Hons.) from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, in 2017. She completed her LL.M. and Ph.D. from the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, with LL.M.  specialization in Constitutional Law in 2018. Her doctorate (Ph. D.) was on the topic ‘Food Security in India: A Socio-legal Study with Reference to the State of Uttar Pradesh’, from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, in 2023. She cleared the National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) in 2018.Her areas of research interest also include Constitutional Law, Information, Communication & Technology (ICT) Law, Food Laws and  Public Policy.

Apart from academics, Dr. Sonika has corporate experience through internships at Tier-I Corporate Law Firms-ShardulAmarchandMangaldas; Laksmikumaran& Sridharan Attorneys; Cyril AmarchandMangaldas; Government departments-Law Commission of India & Competition Commission of India; and the Offices of Senior Advocates. Also, she has worked as Young Professional at Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, New Delhi. Further, she has assisted the Uttar Pradesh State Child Rights Commission (UPSCPCR), Govt. of UP, Lucknow in the drafting of the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Report during her graduation.

In addition, Dr. Sonika has published research papers in edited volumes of books and reputed journals. She has presented research papers in various national and international conferences. Also, she has adjudged oral rounds of national moot court competitions & mediation competitions, and evaluated arbitral awards of International arbitral award writing competition.

Dr. Prakash Tripathi
Assistant Professor of Sociology

Dr. Prakash Tripathi, currently appointed as Assistant Professor of Sociology, is a distinguished social scientist with over a decade of empirical socio-cultural research experience. His expertise spans Tribal and Village Culture, Social Impact Assessment, Traditional Knowledge and Ecology, Forest Rights, and Climate Change. His work delves deeply into the social structures, norms, and sustainable practices of Indian villages. He did his doctorate from Ambedkar University, Delhi; Masters from University of Delhi and Graduation from University of Allahabad. His doctorate work has been on a tribal community of the Himalaya where he explored the local perspective of environmental degradation and its impact on the health care practices of the community.

Dr. Tripathi’s extensive research on Environmental Justice, the Forest Rights Act, and social impact assessment has given him a profound understanding of policy implications on society. Prior to joining Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University (RPNLU) in Prayagraj, he served as the Project Coordinator for the National Mission on Cultural Mapping at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA). There, he managed the ‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar’ project and contributed to various cultural initiatives and educational programs. He also taught Tribal Development and Research Methodology at IGNCA.

Dr. Tripathi was awarded the ‘Maharshi KanadPost Doctoral Fellowship’ at the Delhi School of Public Policy and Governance, University of Delhi. He has also taught Sociology at NLU Assam as a visiting faculty in even semester 2023.

His specialization and research interests include society and law, social structure and inequality, social and environmental justice, public policy, and social research methodology.

At RPNLU, Prayagraj, he aspires to enrich the academic environment with pragmatic insights.

Dr. Neha Dubey
Assistant Professor of English

Dr. Neha Dubey, designated as Assistant Professor of English, has been awarded her Ph.D. (2021) and Postgraduate degree (2013) from the Department of English and M.E.L., University of Allahabad.  Her dissertation titled, “Breaking confinements: A Study of Transformation of Women’s Psychology through Selected Works of Samuel Richardson, Jane Austen, D. H. Lawrence and Margaret Atwood”, is an interdisciplinary research entailing the disciplines of Psychology, Anthropology, European and American History, and English Literature. Besides, she has extended her area of research in Gender Studies, and Indian literature, culture and philosophy. She qualified UGC NET in 2018.

Dr. Neha has several research papers in international journals ascribed to her name. She has actively participated and presented papers in many seminars and conferences of national and international importance; and has enhanced her skills and knowledge through various national workshops.

Besides being a committed academician, Dr. Neha is a literary author. Her creative vigour has found expression in poems, short-stories and articles. Her poems have been published at various platforms including the magazine of Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Allahabad. A collection of her poems was published in an international anthology – wings of poesy, which was later translated into Estonian Language and published in their national journal – AKADEEMIA by Juri Talvet.

Prior to being adorned with the current responsibility, Dr. Neha worked at S.I.E.T., Prayagraj. There, along with her academic responsibilities, she has executed administrative duties by being the Proctorial Board member, Women Grievance Cell member, Literary and Cultural Event Coordinator, Sports Team Coordinator, and Girls Hostel Superintendent. She has also been invited as a judge to several debate competitions, cultural event competitions, etc. She is member of prestigious journal – Muse India and some literary clubs.

Dr. Suchit Kumar Yadav
Assistant Professor of Political Science

Dr. Suchit Kumar Yadav is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University (RPNLU), Prayagraj. Before joining RPNLU, he taught at Hindu College  and Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, University of Delhi. With over four years of teaching experience, Dr. Suchit holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Delhi and  M.A. in Political Science from Ramjas College, University of Delhi. He has also qualified the UGC NET in 2015.

Dr. Suchit’s academic focus encompasses Identity Politics, Dalit Politics, Social Justice, and the politics of marginalized communities. His research interests extend to Caste Politics, Indian Politics, and Political Theory. He has authored numerous articles and research papers published in esteemed national and international journals. His doctoral research, awarded by the University of Delhi, was titled “Revisiting Identity Politics: Understanding the Politics of Mobilisation, Strategy and Emancipation of Dalits in Uttar Pradesh.”

He has participated in several national and international conferences and workshops, besides contributing to research in reputed publications. He participated to present his paper titled ‘Beyond Identity Consolidation: Rightward Political Shift and Appropriation of Sub- Castes in Uttar Pradesh’ at the 93rd Annual Meeting, William Paterson University and the Eastern Sociological Society at the Baltimore Hyatt Regency, Baltimore, MD, U.S.A., in 2023. He also worked as a Research Associate in ICSSR sponsored major research project entitled ‘Popular Imaginaries and Discourses on Politics in India: Exploring Cultural Narratives as the Sites of Knowledge Construction’.

Dr. Suchit was actively involved in academic and administrative bodies, including the Academic Development Society for Students at BRAC, the University of Delhi, and the Placement Cell. He is also a member of the Indian Political Science Association and the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi.
